DEWALT has optimized both of these tools to withstand daily jobsite wear and tear. The 1/2-inch hammer drill’s high-power, high-efficiency motor delivers 535 unit watts out for superior performance in light and medium drilling applications. A 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck with carbide inserts provides superior bit-gripping strength—reducing slippage during high-torque applications—thus providing longer tool life. The hammer drill’s patented three-speed (0-600 RPM; 0-1,250 RPM; and 0-2,000 RPM), all-metal transmission allows users to select the appropriate speed for the job at hand and is up to 30 percent faster than current hammer drill/drivers on the market. Meanwhile, the 12-volt screwdriver’s ability to drive 207 2-1/2-inch cabinet screws on a single battery charge translates to significantly increased productivity. Plus, it weighs in at only 2.2 pounds, making it compact and lightweight enough to reduce user fatigue and increase user comfort in overhead applications. Its 1/4-inch hex chuck allows users to simply push the bit in to lock it in place with one hand, and it also accepts a one-inch bit tip to fit into the tightest spaces. The clutch is easy to access and 0-1,050 RPMs deliver the speed range that contractors demand.

Endurance and Ease of Use
DEWALT-designed electronics have been built into both tools’ switches to provide maximum life for the tools and batteries by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading, and deep discharge during use. The 20-volt’s lithium-ion batteries provide up to 35 percent more runtime than existing 18-volt lithium-ion battery technology, and the included Energy Star-qualified charger has dual voltage capabilities and it is compatible with both 12-volt max and 20-volt max DEWALT lithium-ion batteries. The tools’ slim handles fit easily into users’ hands, increasing the level of comfort during the course of long jobs, and the bright built-in LED work lights above the hammer drill’s trigger have a 20-second delay that improves visibility in dimly lit spaces (the screwdriver also comes equipped with three LED lights to help eliminate shadows on work surfaces and improve accuracy).
